COPICS

In April I will be taking the certification classes from COPIC. They will be here in Chicago teaching the classes and I am very excited to be able to take the classes so I can offer them in the Studio. So after I am certified you will be able to get out those alcohol markers to take your stamping to a whole new level! We will be blending, blending, blending and giving those awesome stamps we just "had to buy" an entirely fantastic look. I have always wanted my images to have depth and shadowing. I have learned some things but I need to know more so I can show you.

Keep watching here for more information on class times. Spring-like weather today but snow on the way beginning of next week. I really would like to know who thought Chicago wanted all this snow!!!!

New Year New Goals

The beginning of December I had surgery on my left elbow to correct some craziness going on causing a lot of pain. The sad thing is that the pain had been going on for so many years that I wasn't sure it could be fixed. I went from doctor to doctor and finally found Dr. Mark Cohen at Rush and he fixed it!!! The joint pain is gone and right now I am going to PT to stretch out the muscles.Even with all the cold weather we have been having here in Chicago the amount of pain as been reduced to just the muscles. I could cry with relief!!! Those of you who know me can appreciate this.

So, classes will be starting in March!!! I did have a class at a crop in January and it went very well. We made a home decor item with the letters S N O W made with the Cricut and glitter paper. I need Erik to show me how to post the picture here and I must take blog lessons to post class samples so I can entice people to classes. I am also in the process of getting COPIC certified so I can offer COPIC marker classes in the studio also as people have been requesting those. When I hear if I have been accepted, because you must apply, I will let you know.

2014 is going to be a GREAT YEAR!!!

Scrapbook Expo

This past weekend was the Scrapbook Expo in St. Charles, IL. I have been attending this event for so many years, taking classes and wandering the show floor looking at all the new products and this year was no exception. I only took 4 classes this year which is down from the 7 I took last year. lol I took 2 SEI classes. I love taking their classes because you not only get so much product but you get new techniques. No matter which class of theirs you take, no matter what year there is consistency. I save all the layout directions because I know they "work" with each other. Their albums in a box or albums in a bag have everything cut out, in order and all you have to do is put it together. I tend to add my own touches like inking edges, putting bling in different places and journaling. My wedding album is an SEI album. Of course it took me 25 years to do it but it is an SEI product line that I love.

It was great to meet up with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Scrappers from near and far. People I met in the area and people I met in Utah who now live here! That is the fun part of our industry. The common bond we have. It's all about passing on of ideas and helping each other grow as crafters, as business owners and as friends. We are all put on this earth to help each other. Our legacy is the memories that we build each day and document for the future!

Monday in Chicago!!!

Did anyone try and see the Perseid Meteor Shower last night??? It was a bit cloudy but I did try. Kind of hard with the street lights and stuffShould be better tonight. If anybody takes pictures send them!

Wednesday I am going to get the CT scan on my left elbow. We'll see how that goes. Don't really want to replace the entire elbow but will see what the 3rd doctor says. Whatever it takes to get rid of the pain. Right.

Will be working on the Scrap Room and the Studio today and tomorrow so I can get them up and running. Yes I am blessed to have both and No I won't show before pictures. LOL Trust me, you don't want to see them. I got to see Ivy last week and show her how to do something on the Gypsy!!! That was cool. She kept saying, "What the...." and "That is so cool!" When I showed how to save it there was already a file saved and it was MY NAME!!! She had taken one of my classes and forgot what she learned. So, Ivy, post here what you made!!!

Getting busy!!

NEW YEAR

Ok, off the pity pot. I have forgiven myself and will set an alarm and put it on my calendar to post because you are important and I want to teach. It's that simple. I want to share all kinds of things.

So, the first thing I will share is not craft related but I just finished a book on my kindle and HVE to pass it on. It is "The Husband's Secret," by Liane Moriarty. Great book. I have been seeing reviews for it all over the place, women's magazines, Sunday paper, book reviews, so many places and it sounded interesting so I had to get it. Complex characters, twists and turns; a book I couldn't put down. It made me begging to find out what happens next to these people. I hope she writes a sequel because it needs to be written. I read A LOT. Those who know me, know that fact. lol If you have read it, let me know what you thought.

Next post will be crafty!!!

SHAME ON ME

I cannot believe it has been a Year since I last posted. I cannot even call myself a blogger. This is so very embarrassing. I really wanted to have a blog where people came and chatted and learned new things and shared and I failed. And I'm not even telling very many people this. Pathetic.

August Already?

Ok, what happened to my summer? I felt the heat but these days flew by! So very busy. Now I'm getting back in the grove and ready to set my fall schedule.
Was at
cha this summer and wait till you see the new things that are coming out this fall from your favorite companies. They just keep topping themselves. We'll be using many new products in our classes.
A*MUSE Stamps has started their Holiday Season with their new catalog loaded with fresh fall, Halloween, Christmas, and winter items.

My plan is to set up a regular schedule for classes. A certain night and day every month for Cricut Classes, same thing for Gypsy classes and A*Muse classes. Also there will be a few techniques classes, specialty classes and surprise classes so keep looking at the blog which will be updated more often. I do have a class registration button that I am working on trying to set up with exact dates so don't pay me yet! There will be a limit on the number of people in each class. I can add classes as needed. Still learning the ropes of blogdom! I will also have a limited number of class kits available for a set price.

I'm getting excited about the fall and hope you are too.

But wait--there's more--Available September 1 will be the premier issuse of Chicagoland Scrapbookers Magazine!!! It will have information on all 70, yes, I said 70 scrapbooking places in the Chicagoland area!! There will be articles about everything crafty, coupons, classes all around the area and a question and answer section. I will have copies available September 1st so come by and pick yours up. Yes, at my home studio!!  We'll make it an Open House!! Starts at 1:00 p.m. and goes until whenever!!! Great idea!!

Catch ya soon, hubby just got home and my tummy is rumbling too!
